Research Memo

Hypothesis:

In conducting this research I found out that the government did not want to legalize medical cannabis because there are too many marijuana dealers. That makes it where they cannot tax it due to the dealers doing it for no taxes. After choosing my main question it was branched off in to 8 different questions which are shown in the chart below.  My belief is that marijuana should be legal to the people who need it. This is because it helps with many different diseases. Plus if the government were to legalize it then there would be less people in jail and that leaves more room for the serial killers and rapist

In distributing the surveys my audience was everyone. That was so that there was an even selection of data. I wanted to find regular day civilian and people who actually knew

What marijuana was used for? I figured That regular citizens would not support legalizing medical marijuana and those who knew what is was for and needed it would support legalizing it. I figured this because people who know what cannabis is used for know that people need it to help with their appetite or Alzheimer’s. This brings us to my survey.

Esential Questions

In my research there are many question that I would like to have answered such as, "What is the government's status on legalizing medical cannabis?" or, "Would legalizing medical marijuana help our economy?" Also, there are some question like, "What is medical marijuana medicine for?" or, "How do people feel about the legalization of medical marijuana?" Although my most important question would be "What is the economic status and how much could legalizing medical marijuana help in raising economic growth?"

Reason behind my topic

There are many debates about legalizing marijuana. Some people say it is to help cancer patients and other say that its for " unlawful criminal teenagers who dont have any respect" but for the ones who dont understand how to use the medicine they are prescribed correctly lear this  The reason people believe marijuana should be legalized because there has never been a reporting of anyone dying of marijuana. But I hear plenty of reportings of people dying of alcohol poisoning or cancer from cigarettes because of the chemicals put in them. I say that if the government can let people decide whether to drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes that kill them, then why cant they decide to smoke marijuana on their own?
